Goats Violently Abused, Left to Die - Urge Madewell to Ban Cashmere

A new PETA Asia investigation into the cashmere industry in China and Mongolia – the world's top cashmere exporters – reveals extreme cruelty to and violent killing of cashmere goats.

Together, China and Mongolia produce 90 per cent of the world's cashmere. Goats suffered on every single farm that the eyewitnesses visited in these countries.

Goats screamed in pain and fear as workers tore their hair out. Later, their throats were slit in abattoirs and they were left to die in agony.

In light of this cruelty, many brands – such as ASOS – have already made the compassionate decision to ban cashmere.

Now, we need to urge women's apparel brand Madewell to ban it, too.

China has no penalties for abusing animals on cashmere farms, and the situation in Mongolia appears to be much the same. The best way to help these goats is to refuse to support the cruel cashmere industry, by never buying anything made of cashmere.

Warm, stylish, animal-friendly materials are widely available, so you can leave goats' hair and other animal-derived materials like wool and fur where they belong: on the animals.

Please send a message asking Madewell to ban cashmere.

You may use the provided text, but your message will carry more weight if you write your own customised message and subject line. Personalised letters always work best.
