PETA exposés have shown camels being viciously beaten in Morocco, dead horses dumped like rubbish in Egypt, and elephants being beaten with bullhooks. Tourists who pay to take horse or camel rides keep these cruel operations in business – please pledge to never take animal rides.

A PETA Asia investigation into the Moroccan tourism industry reveals that camels used to give rides are viciously beaten, tied up with no protection from the elements, and slaughtered when they’re no longer profitable.
The disturbing video shows camels tethered on ropes only a few feet long, left exposed amid a severe sandstorm, and forced to haul tourists all day in the sweltering heat. One operator was filmed repeatedly beating a tied-up camel with a long stick as the animal struggled to avoid the blows. A ride operator told investigators that camels, who can live up to 40 years, are typically used for around five years, after which time they are killed or sold for meat.
Footage from 2025 shows rotting corpses and sick, injured and starving animals left to die behind the Great Pyramids of Egypt, just out of sight of tourists. Horses are seen digging through rubbish to find food without adequate access to water, while camels continue to suffer from mange because they’re denied sufficient veterinary treatment. A mummified horse was found dumped near the pyramids – one of the most heart-breaking sights tourists aren’t supposed to know about.
Trainers beat elephants with weapons and traumatise these gentle giants with a life of violence, routine chaining, exhausting work, untreated injuries, malnourishment, and dehydration.
Donkeys and mules are forced to carry tourists, and their saddles are ill-fitting, and their makeshift saddle girths are made from plastic hoses, which chafe the animals’ sensitive skin. Most of them have skin issues such as raw spots or open, bloody wounds on their abdomens and at the base of their tails.

I know that horses, camels, and other animals who are exploited for tourist rides suffer for “entertainment”, and I don’t want to support this cruelty. I pledge to expose the truth about animal rides and to never ride an animal.
