Investigations Into the Down Industry
Shocking investigations by PETA entities have shown the nightmare that birds are condemned to when exploited in the down industry. They’re typically forced to live in filthy, faeces-filled lots or sheds, where they’re often denied the opportunity to engage in the behaviour that’s most natural and important to them – such as bathing, swimming, flying, and foraging – before they’re shoved into crates for a gruelling journey to an abattoir. There, many birds are inadequately stunned before their throats are cut, which means that they’re often conscious when they’re dumped into defeathering tanks full of scalding-hot water.
PETA Asia investigators visited duck farms and abattoirs in Vietnam connected to companies and brands that sell misleadingly named “responsible” down – including Moncler Group’s Stone Island – and exposed the terror birds endure at these facilities. As the investigative footage reveals, workers mercilessly stab birds, slit their throats, and cut off their feet while they’re still alive.

Ducks and geese are social and outgoing, and they’re happiest when they’re with their families. These intelligent, complex beings swim and fly together in formation. They feel fear and pain, just as humans do, and want to enjoy lives free from suffering.
Take Action
A growing number of clothing companies now use entirely animal-free fabrics to create top-notch fashion, and many companies – including Sandro, Save the Duck, Napapijri, and ASOS – have ditched feathers. Moncler Group must do the same. Please urge it to spare birds suffering and a painful death by banning down.
