Varun was pushed past his breaking point for a film stunt.

Forced to pull a heavy carriage at a dizzying speed, he smashed into a barrier and crashed hard onto the asphalt. Knocked flat by the collision, he and another horse skidded helplessly down the street.

First came the terror, then the searing pain as he felt his skin being torn from his body. Varun flailed on the ground, trying desperately to stand again and again, before collapsing each time.

The other horse did not survive. When rescuers reached Varun, he was so traumatised that even the gentlest touch petrified him.
