Online fashion retailer boohoo group – whose brands include boohoo, boohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing, and Nasty Gal – decided to withdraw its ban on wool. Despite knowing how sheep are abused in the industry and that wool is one of the most environmentally damaging materials, the retailer made the unethical decision not to go ahead with the ban.
One video exposé after another by PETA and its affiliates – including of shearing operations in Australia and the UK – has shown shearers punching sheep in the face, stamping and standing on their heads and necks, and beating and jabbing them with electric clippers. The eyewitness investigations have documented that lambs' ears are hole-punched, their tails are chopped off, and males are castrated – all without any pain relief. All sheep raised for wool are exploited and eventually slaughtered.
When animals are viewed as a collection of body parts and their fear and pain are ignored, we must raise our voices and use our consumer clout to help stop the abuse.
Ask boohoo to stand by its initial, compassionate decision and become the first global fashion brand to ban wool.
